BOARD OF REVISION
GENERAL ASSESSMENT & PERSONAL PROPERTY ASSESSMENT
2027 AND 2026 SUPPLEMENTARY PROPERTY TAXES
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the 2027 General Assessment, Business Assessment and Personal Property Assessment Rolls to be revised was deposited in the Municipal Office and is open to Public Inspection, during regular business hours.
THE BOARD OF REVISION will sit to hear complaints of
the various assessments on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER
7, 2026 at the hour of 3:00 p.m.
in the Council Chambers of the Rural Municipality of
ANY PERSON who believes that an assessment ought to be revised may make application in accordance with Sections 42 and 43 of The Municipal Assessment Act hereinafter referred to as “The Act” which provides as follows:
APPLICATION FOR REVISION:
Section 42(1) A person, including an assessor, may make application for the revision of an assessment roll with respect to:
a) liability to taxation;
b) amount of an assessed value;
c) classification of property; or
d) a refusal by an assessor to amend the assessment roll under Subsection 13(2).
Before filing an application against the amount of the assessment, liability to taxation, or classification of the property, Applicants should:
a) examine municipal assessment rolls for comparable properties;
b) select comparable properties from the rolls; and
c) discuss the matter with the Provincial Assessment Branch, Selkirk, 204-785-5092.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Section 43(1) An application for revision must:
a) be made in writing;
b) set out the roll number and legal description of the assessable property for which a revision is sought;
c) state the grounds on which the application is based; and
d) be filed by
i) delivering it or causing it to be delivered to the Municipal Office indicated in the Public Notice given under Subsection 41(2); or
ii) serving it upon the secretary,
AT LEAST FIFTEEN (15) DAYS BEFORE THE SCHEDULED SITTING DATE OF THE BOARD AS INDICATED IN THE PUBLIC NOTICE; DEADLINE FOR APPEALS IS 4:30 P.M., LOCAL STONEWALL TIME, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2026 – NO LATE EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED. PURSUANT TO SUBSECTION 43(2), APPLICATIONS WHICH DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED BY THE BOARD.
