Attention Argyle Residents with Private Wells
The Municipality has heard concerns from residents regarding consistent reports of elevated E. coli levels in private well water samples within the Argyle area.
As these are private wells located on private property, water quality testing, maintenance, treatment, and any necessary corrective actions are the responsibility of the private homeowner and are outside the Municipality’s scope of service and responsibility.
While the Municipality cannot assume responsibility for private wells, we are committed to sharing information and helping residents understand the recommended steps available to them.
To encourage a community-wide response, homeowners and neighbours are encouraged to participate in a community-led well shock chlorination on Saturday, July 18, at 10:00 a.m. Participation is voluntary, and each homeowner is responsible for carrying out the shock chlorination on their own well.
Following shock chlorination, re-testing of private well water remains the responsibility of the homeowner and is outside the Municipality’s scope of service.
If you rely on a private well, we encourage you to have your water tested regularly and follow recommended guidance if your sample tests positive for E. coli. Additional information on private well testing and disinfection is available through the Province of Manitoba’s private well resources: Private Well Information – Province of Manitoba- https://www.manitoba.ca/sd/water/drinking-water
